Why LatviaWell, why Latvia ? ​For those of you who do not know it already, here are some fast facts ; ​ Latvia is a part of the European Union and a Schengen Zone country. Latvia is also the member of NATO, the name that has been heard over the news millions of times a day, nowadays. Thanks to Russia for making the world aware of it. This membership is a huge security boost for this small country by the Baltic sea. It is neighbor to some major powerhouse economies like Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark. Latvia's population within Latvia is quite small, around 1.8 million. However, many Latvian citizens are pretty spread out, working and living in other EU countries with a significant numbers in the UK and Ireland. Latvians are settled even all the way in Canada. Latvia is home to a high percentage of educated bilingual or even trilingual and young work force, with lower wages. As such, it is somewhat of a back office for some major larger Scandinavian countries. Something similar to what India is in terms of a service outsource point to the world. Customer care centers, administrative support, fintech, I-gaming and the likes are fast mushrooming here in Latvia, setup by huge companies in Europe. If a foreigner plans to implement activities in the Republic of Latvia with the aim to create or develop an innovative product, and after the issue of a temporary residence permit the following provisions are fulfilled in accordance with this paragraph:
​
a) within a time period of three months after a decision is made regarding the issue of a temporary residence permit a foreigner is registered as a member of the board in the capital company, registered with the Commercial Register not longer than a year ago, within the framework of which he plans to implement the above mentioned activities,
​
b) total investments of the qualified risk capital investor made to the equity capital of the above mentioned capital company has reached at least 30 000 euro within six months after the first issue of the temporary residence permit for implementation of one and the same activity and at least 60 000 euro within 18 months after the issue of the temporary residence permit:
