Honestly, setting up a company or investing in a business in Europe is fairly straightforward. But it is just one side of the coin. However, the moment you start to ask the European Governments to allow you to move here to live and do business or work, that's when the complication starts. Immigration matter is another ball game. Passive (Silent) Investment options
Simplest way of acquiring a residence permit in Latvia. Purchase a personal residential real estate at Euro 250,000 or above.
Passive ( Silent ) Investment in an Active business. If you have not watched the popular series 'Shark Tank' or 'Dragons's Den' you must. Then when you do, imagine YOU are the Shark / Dragon who is Investing in an active business.

Invest Euro 250,000 in Government bond / securities and qualify for residence permit. This is a 5 year lock in bond at 0% interest. In addition, there is a one time State Fee of Euro 38,000.

Active means business. Active means you feel you can establish a fantastic business in Europe. You are an entrepreneur at heart. You must always get paid a salary and pay applicable taxes to the Government based on the salary agreed. Yes, even if you are starting your own company.

08 - Start your own company to work in
This option, although possible, needs more work and preparation. It would need a good business plan. Preferably good proven business or self employment experience or high education of the applicant. In short, you start or buy a company and request the labor ministry to allow you to work within your own company. You will need to pay yourself a minimum monthly salary of Euro 1537 and pay taxes to the tune of Euro 800 per month.

09 - Retirement Visa
for Citizens of those countries that do not need a visa to enter Latvia. USA, Canada, UK, Australia etc.
It is possible for citizens of many countries to come an live in Latvia, if they are financially self sufficient by means of a regular pension or other passive source of income. Must be aged 65 or above.
